The Skoura palm grove is a unique oasis, its own eco-system, monumental earthen kasbahs and cultural mix make it a place of vibrant charm. A jewel of the South.
The Skoura palm grove is a labyrinth with a thousand facets; the dirt roads of this enchanting maze pass by fields of olive trees, alfalfa crops, countless palm trees or even ancient and mysterious Kasbah. It is an impressive abundance of landscapes typical of the southern oases.
The Amridil Kasbah stands proudly on the river bank, dating from the 17th century, it is the emblem of the Skoura palm grove and was once on the 50 Dirham notes.
Skoura is a real cultural mix, a land of traditions that have not gone astray. It is an important ethnic crossroads, as it is influenced by Berbers, Arabs and Jews. To be discovered through the kasbahs, the crafts, the places of worship and the contact with a welcoming population.
All these assets make Skoura an oasis like no other, a stopover out of time, with multiple riches. To appreciate it, you have to understand it and take your time. ALFALFA has made it its speciality, the team was born here, we love and want to give Skoura the place it deserves, a marvel of the Moroccan south.

The 1000 Kasbahs Road
ALFALFA offers you an immersion in history and nature. The Skoura palm grove is the starting point of a mythical road, that of the 1000 Kasbahs. More than architecture, it is a heritage of customs, culture and a way of life.
From the Skoura palm grove we head north, a few dozen kilometres. Kelaat Mgouna, where the rose harvested from April to June is honoured and celebrated during 3 days at the beginning of May during the festival dedicated to it.
You can find there at the edge of the Oued M’goun, roses, poppies, wild corn, almond trees, fig trees and wheat fields of a rare beauty. All this at the foot of monumental cliffs and the famous Mount M’goun which culminates at more than 4000 meters. The next village on the road is called Azlag, a stronghold in the manufacture of daggers. A Jewish know-how transmitted for generations.
Boumalne Dadès is in the distance, 60 kilometres away. The road undulates between gorges and valleys, carving its way through an extraordinary natural setting. You will see kasbahs, cliffs with monkey fingers, panoramic views and breathtaking gorges.
A little further on, it’s Tinghir. Its Mellah and palm grove make it a pleasant stopover. On the heights, the Kasbah of Glaoui sits proudly.
It is the starting point of the Todra gorges, which you can enjoy thanks to a picturesque road. It runs along a magnificent palm grove, which still shelters villages and kasbahs made of adobe. Numerous treks and walks are possible along this 300-metre-high fault, which is sure to seduce you.
On the way back from the Todra gorges to Tinejdad, the Lalla Mimouna museum, 4 kilometres before the entrance to the town, will be a refreshing break. Indeed, it is an ode to water and its beneficence, a crucial element of the oasis way of life. The road of the 1000 kasbahs ends in Goulmima. At the Ghéris oasis, the Ksar of Goulmima will be the apotheosis of this enchanting road.
